Program Details

The American Red Cross requires its lifeguard candidates to show certain water competencies and skills before being allowed to take the Lifeguard Certification course. All skills must be passed. Prerequisites: 1. 300yd Continuous swim- 100yds of front crawl, 100yds of breast stroke, and 100yds of either front crawl or breast stroke ONLY. 2. Brick retrieval- swim 20yds and surface dive to retrieve a 10lb rubber brick at a depth of 9ft, then swim 20yds on your back with both hands on the brick. 3. 2 minute tread without using your hands.
